The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) consists of elected members of staff and parents with the Principal as its President and an elected parent member as the Vice President. The General Body of the PTA meets annually and the Executive Committee members meet once in a semester. The PTA fund is utilized for student welfare and for the development of the departments.
Aims and Objectives
- To nourish and promote good relationship among staff, students and guardians of the students.
- To create in its members keen interest for the smooth working and the progress of the college and for maintaining good discipline and high academic standards.
- To provide financial and technical assistance to improve amenities to the student of the college.
Administration
The administration of the Association shall vest in an executive committee, hereinafter referred to as the committee, electedfor the purpose.The committee, shall consist of
- A President (Principal as an Ex-officio)
- A Vice - President (Parent- an elected member)
- A Secretary (elected from among the members of the teaching staff)
- A Joint-Secretary (elected from among the members of the Parent/Guardian who may be a staff of the college also)
- Notmore than 8 other members of which at least 4 shall represent the parent-guardians and 4 the teaching staff.
- A Committee once elected shall continue to hold office till a new committee assumes charge.
Duties of the Office Bearers
- The Principal shall be Ex-officio President and the Treasurer of the Association.
- He shall have control over the affairs of the Association and shall preside over the committee meetings and the meetings of the General Body.
- He shall have powers to convene meetings of the committee and of the General Body either on his own initiative or on the written requisition of at least 5 members in the case of the Executive committee and 25 members in the case of the General Body meetings
- He shall have powers to operate the Accounts of the Association and to incur such expenditure as may be approved by the committee.
- He shall maintain proper records of the receipts and payment and shall get the annual statement of accounts prepared and shall be placed before the committee and the General Body.
- The Vice-President shall be elected from among the parents
- In the absence of the President or on the request of President in writing the Vice-President shall conduct the meeting. However if the Principal in-charge/Prof. in charge is available he will conduct the meeting in the place of the President
Powers and responsibilities of the Executive Committee
Subject to the approval of the General Body of the association, the committee shall have the following powers:
- To manage all affairs of the association, to incur and meet all necessary expenses and do all such acts as not inconsistent with these rules.
- To enlist members.
- To hold meetings of the committee at least once in a semester or often if deemed necessary.
- To scrutinise the annual report, the audited statement of accounts for the year and for the ensuing year to be placed before the general body.
